This module deals with the calculation of nuclear binding energies and
their comparison with known values.
Learning outcomes
After completing this module you should be able to:
 | look up atomic masses in atomic mass units;
|
| calculate the mass defect; and
|
| convert the mass defect to the binding energy in MeV by use of
Einstein's equation.

Assumed prior knowledge
It is assumed you have knowledge of the following concepts:
| the difference between proton numbers and nucleon numbers;
